Prada and Axiom Space have introduced new spacesuits for the lunar mission, combining style with high-tech innovation.
The fashion house Prada, in collaboration with the space company Axiom Space, has created a new design for the spacesuits that astronauts will use during NASA’s Artemis III mission to the Moon in 2026.
The presentation took place on October 16 at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan. This is reported by CNN.
The new astronaut suits are white with gray detailing on the elbows and knees and red accent lines inspired by the Prada Linea Rossa style.
Spacesuits provide better mobility, protection from high temperatures and lunar dust, and special shoes will allow astronauts to spend up to 8 hours in open space every day.
Prada has used its expertise in textile production and sewing techniques to combine functionality and style, representatives said at the launch.
It was previously reported that American researchers have developed a spacesuit that can turn urine into drinking water.
